It’s interesting about what subjects people create studies. A good example is the love-life of the desert mouse :-)

This one is just about as useful, but very amusing

I never thought that there would be such a difference in methods across the world, fascinating…..

Yesterday, as I did a small “Tour de Suisse” for my job, I stopped at a roadhouse for a break. While washing my hands after using the restroom I was looking for the hand-dryer (since there was no paper-dispenser). Well, i couldn’t see any. I was already thinking “Damn it, I’ll have to walk out with wet hands” :-( Then i noticed a peculiar device, somewhat looking like a newspaper- or magazine-holder.

After a second look I saw a pictogram showing to stick my hands in the device and then slowly pull them out again. As I stuck my hands in the device, a quite noisy motor came to life and blew a quite hard and warm air-flow at my hands. It felt somewhat like a “blade”. I was pleasantly surprised, because after 10 seconds, my hands really were dry, even under my ring.

Well, I just had my first time using a Dyson AirBlade. I’m so proud! :-)

I never saw something similar. And its the first hand blow-dryer which works, and this fast. So thats a thumbs up from me

I’m about to test out some new plugins for this blog. First one to go is the PoWPoll written by Lyn4.

Here we go:
[poll:2]

UPDATE:

Unfortunately, the PowPoll Addon didnt quite work as expected. :(

I’m now running WP-Polls written by Lester Chan. It comes along with a widget that embeds your polls in your sidebar. Also, the poll archive is now working.

I’ve also stumbled upon SodaHead. I’ll have to give it some thought, but I’m not so fond of the idea to host my polls somewhere else. We’ll see.

Many of you know that you can match Googlemaps with all sorts of location data. Here is a Mashup from the Zurich School of Engineering showing Flight movements over Switzerland using Transponder data. OK, I’ve already known that one.

At some point in our lives, we all stood at the train station waiting for our train and wondering where it is right now (OK, maybe not all of us, but at least I did). Now you can check where your train is exacty. Check out this map with Train movements.

Thats what I call “getting a new perspective” :-)

Everyone that has served in the Swiss army will know the term “Hamburgertaufe”. Currently, a “Media-Mania” about this rite is going through the swiss media. Most of the articles report of excessive abuse of alcohol and neglecting the dignity of the “Hamburgers”. From my point of view, this is a subject which is hyped by our media. Because of some baptisms which went out of bounds, the whole rite should be banned. Of course, drinking alcohol out of a (previously washed!) Urinal or tipping a whole bottle of jaegermeister into someones throat using a funnel is totally inept. But this is, from what i know, only a small percentage of baptisms which take place each year.

With this article I do not intend to excuse or accept such behavior. I want to explain what the “Hamburger baptism” is and what its supposed to do.

The swiss commuter-newspaper “20 Minuten” reported, that Sunrise offers a free ADSL-Link worth CHF 69.– if you get all your telecommunication services from them. This means land line, mobile phone and obviously ADSL. See here for the full article (German)

The default-Theme of WordPress is nice n’ clean. but it seems a bit mainstream to me. Currently I’m checking out some other themes from the WordPress Theme Database. So don’t be surprised if my blog looks different from time to time.

Of course I would be happy if you left a comment on how you like the theme.

Yesterday the first Acts were announced for the Open Air Gampel. And guess what: NIGHTWISH is coming! YAY!!! After i’ve missed the gig of Within Temptation last year, I’ll put all my effort in that I can see this year’s appearance of one of my favourite bands.

Think i’ll have to get started in planning this year’s Open Air calendar. As the OAG is starting already on Thursday afternoon, it will involve some discussions with my boss. But better sooner than later :-)
